Margaret Smith McManus, PE
Principal/Vice President for Engineering
Starting her career as a summer intern for the Town of Cortlandt Water Department in 1983, Margaret was tasked with the inventory and recording of the location of all the town’s hydrants, valves, and water mains. After graduating with a BS in Engineering from Manhattan College, Margaret joined the Town of Cortlandt’s Engineering Department as an Assistant Civil Engineer, cutting her teeth on capital improvement projects that included road improvements, sewer, water main, and drainage system development, and rehabilitation.
After obtaining an MS in Computer Science from Pace University, Margaret joined B&W as a Staff Engineer (2003-2010). She worked as a Project Manager for several years before finally returning to B&W in 2017 as a Sr. Project Manager and earned her Professional Engineering license in 2020.
Margaret was promoted to Partner and Vice President for Engineering in 2021. Her responsibilities include supervising the engineering department, project design and management, bid document preparation, construction inspection, and construction compliance certification for public and private improvement projects.
Under Margaret’s leadership, the Engineering Division has experienced 53% growth and doubled its portion of the company’s revenue with expansion of the client base and scope of services.
Margaret is a member of the Westchester/Putnam Chapter of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers.
Outside of work, Margaret enjoys reading, taking walks with her dog Luna, and has recently taken up watercolor painting.
