Founded in 1973, Badey & Watson is a full service surveying and engineering firm serving a wide
variety of clients in New York's Hudson Valley region, New York City and southwest Connecticut.
Building on a long-standing reputation for integrity, innovation and reliability, our respected
staff of professionals provides a comprehensive array of surveying, mapping and civil engineering
services for a growing family of clients including architects, attorneys, engineers, homeowners,
state and local governments, universities, hospitals, utility companies and more.
To date, Badey & Watson has successfully completed more than 20,000 projects of
varying size and complexity.
Since its founding, Badey & Watson has been committed to excellence, providing accurate and dependable
surveys that consistently meet or exceed the standards set forth by the New York State
Association of Professional Land Surveyors, the American Land Title Association (ALTA) and
American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM), as well as those of individual clients. To
consistently provide this level of service and to meet today's engineering, surveying and mapping
challenges, the firm relentlessly monitors emerging technology and continuously invests in instruments,
computing equipment and staff training.
RESOURCES
Badey & Watson is proud of its ongoing commitment to innovation. We constantly review our
needs and the needs of our clients, and have now assembled a comprehensive arsenal of surveying
instruments and computing equipment that assures timely, dependable and precise computations
and mapping.
PROPRIETARY ARCHIVAL RESOURCES
Badey & Watson has accumulated one of the largest libraries of private land related information in
the area. The firm's 2001 merger with Taconic Surveying & Engineering resulted in a significant collection
of files from the
above firms that practiced extensively in the Hudson Valley.
The principals have contributed to that base by developing an extensive understanding of the resources
available in the area. These files often provide the key to finding a boundary line, assist in
understanding the original intentions of the parties to a deed, and/or reduce the time it takes to
complete a survey.
Badey & Watson is co-owner of and has fully controlled aerial photographs covering all of Putnam
County and a portion of Dutchess County, New York. The photographs are suitable for compilation
of 50 scale, 2 foot contour mapping. We are also co-owners of digital color photographs
covering all of Westchester County. These photos were also fully controlled by Badey & Watson.
They were obtained in the spring of 2008 and are suitable for 20-scale, 1 foot contour mapping.
The 2008 photos have a nominal pixel size of 2-inches.
The control for both sets of photography is tied to the New York State Plane Coordinate System
(NAD 83, expressed in feet) and the North American Vertical Datum (NAVD88). Conversions to
NAD1927 and NGVD1929 are readily available. Mapping can be obtained through Badey & Watson
and we are available to establish control locally for individual mapping projects.
